Force, Thrust, and Pressure

Did you know? Barrel diameter affects pressure:

Choosing the right tool for an application requires an understanding of the relationship between the Force (thrust) created Drive System and Pressures (PSI) within the Material Containment Unit (MCU).

F (force) = P (pressure) x A (area) | Albion Engineering Equation

For example: a Bulk gun with a 2⅝” diameter generates 700 lb force, however, if the diameter increases to 3⅜” the force drops to 375 lb force; basically the initial force generated by the drive is spread out over a larger area (diameter) and so the pressure drops accordingly.

2" Diameter, 2 5/8" Diameter, 3 3/8" Diameter

Note the decrease in pressure as the barrel increase in size
